Fashion Obsession

Both Kodawalers and Urahara-kuns are comparatively focused in their interests and hobbies and in the things they want to buy. On top of being supported by parents, some of them also work parttime so that they can easily buy most of the things they want, especially fashion. The average Kodawaler will earn around ¥160,000 a month from part-time jobs, including money from their parents, and they spend over 70% of their income on fashion, a high proportion even in a fashion obsessed and conscious Japan.

Although Kodawalers are very into things fashionable, it is important not to confuse them with the smartly dressed Konsabas who love to shop at Louis Vuitton and Hermes boutiques. Kodawalers, like most Japanese, do have a liking for luxury designer items, but usually these things are too pricey for them. In fact, they prefer to browse in a variety of different stores for items that are original in design. Rather than saving money to buy a special luxury item, they browse around and buy something on the spur of the moment or save up for something they think is cool and fashionable. Apart from fash-

ion, Kodawalers also love art, music and movies. A PURPOSEFUL LIFE

Kodawalers love partying and clubbing all night long. They usually get to school on time, even if it means they only get a couple of hours sleep. Kodawalers are highly focused on their studies or work and often have a very specific purpose. One Kodawaler currently studying at hair design school, says she's no longer sure whether she wants to be a hair stylist, but until she has decided on a different career, it is a characteristic of people like her to continue working hard on the task at hand.

Clubbing is not just about having fun but also a way of meeting new people, experiencing new things and finding out more about life. Kodawalers are all about focusing on pursuing their dreams and working on those dreams. Even though their future plans may still be vague, they want to get out and check what is going on, collecting as much information as possible in order to evaluate the best fashion options. Unlike Ko-Gals whose only concern is to have fun now and worry about the future later, Kodawalers are dedicated and serious about their future.

They're keen to pursue work based on their interests and do not rely very much on job ads. They're also not too concerned about big salaries and status unlike the Konsabas and Kireime-kuns.
